Bay Area Backroads rides the bus

Join Bay Area Backroads host, Doug McConnell and AC Transit driver Rhonda Robinson as they tour the East Bay, all by bus. This segment aired on the popular KRON TV show, Bay Area Backroads, Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th. But you can still tune in and watch the video on the program's Web site.

Showing viewers that you don't need a car to visit great places, the bus begins its tour at the Berkeley Marina. It then travels through Berkeley's "gourmet ghetto" sampling goodies from the Cheese Board Collective and Café Colucci, over to Bay Farm Island for flying lessons at the Bill Osborne Model Air Flying Field. The next stop is St. George Spirits on Alameda Naval Base to sample a locally distilled specialty, absinthe.

Aram Boyd of AC Transit's Marketing Department who appears briefly in the line-up, coordinated with the Bay Area Backrounds KRON staff to produce the segment earlier this year.

Other AC Transit employees who appeared on camera were operator Richard Johnson and Transbay rider Mary James.

Robinson says, "Looking out the window (of the bus) is like looking out from a picture frame." You can see what Robinson sees by watching this program.
